Understanding the Shadow
For me the best way to understand everything that encompasses the shadow in spiritual terms is to bring it to the physical plane.
The shadow that our body reflects for example is nothing more than an extension of ourselves, what distinguishes us and shapes us, is light (light as a literal term as well as as personal perception or "what we see")
There is a lesson (among the many) that waits to be appreciated by each of us, hidden as an analogy in our physical shadow; 🗝Our shadow spends more time being reflected in everything external (the ground, the person next to us, etc.) than the time that it spends underneath us. We spend more hours of the day deceiving ourselves into thinking that nobody notices our shadow, even denying it to ourselves, however, the absolute reality is that when actions are born from fear, insecurity, grief, pain, anguish, anger, hiding or denying our truth, etc, it is our shadow that from the darkness is being reflected in everything external; others may not know is your shadow, but they do know is you or part of you. Then suddenly, the light illuminates you right from above and you see that the shadow is the part of you that you walk all over, deny and even forget it exists, that it is not only darkness but that it also holds some of the best parts of you and that it is you!. Our shadow interacts more with everything than our solid form. It touches surfaces and even strangers and we dont even notice; the shadow lies on the flowers while we walk down the sidewalk. The shadow can serve as a guide and a clock, and it is the shadow that reminds us of all the light that is around us. The shadow grounds us just by looking at it if we accept it, if we see it for what it is, an extension of us. When we look at our shadow we can see how maybe we are not allowing the light to reach someone else, and is easy to understand that light and darkness is one of the same, the fact that one exists means the other does as well. The shadow can only harm us when we ignore it or when we pursue it like expecting to reach it, but just by becoming aware of its presence or where it is located we can start integrating everything that we really are as light and darkness, shadow and form, consciousness and subconsciousness.
