Who are we if we look at our roots? What can we discover there?
What is the first thing we think of when the root word comes to us?
Personally, the first thing I see is the roots of a tree. When I think of the roots of a tree, I recognize nutrients, minerals, energy, support, lineage, growth, instinct, survival, magnetism, grip, background, mystery / hidden, beginnings, past, communion, base in relativity to its structure. I also recognize exchange, communication, expansion, tenacity, vitality, imposition and dominance, among other things.
If we accept that “as inside, so outside” we can compare ourselves to a tree and better understand our own roots and what they represent in us.
Our roots are our sense of survival. It is the magnetization of the nutrients and minerals that we absorb, converted into our base in relation to our structure. It is our past and our beginning. It is who we were, who we are and who we are going to be. It is our ancestral lineage and our hidden side; We bury it and it is part of our "underworld" (under the earth), despite being the basis of our formation and our structure. Like the roots of trees, pieces of them can be seen on the surface, but we do not see where it is actually buried and/or what surrounds it. Our roots are also our background, what we have learned and integrated as part of ourselves, the teachings of our parents, what we learned at school, how we learned to behave with others. Those first experiences that were forging who you are today. It is what makes us part of this planet and its forms of life as we know them. The roots of human beings also represent exchange, they mark our life in this way with a beginning and an end, promoting a timely exchange. Also, in our roots we find our vitality and tenacity, it is our way of expansion and continuity ensuring, like the roots of trees, dominance of our space and the imposition of our presence.
This gives us a wide framework of options to personally venture to work with our own roots and all the aspects of them that may be limiting or delaying us according to the blockages or "diseases" that our roots may have. If we want a leafy treetop, full of green leaves and juicy fruits and a trunk that exudes health and energy, to provide the best shade, rest, support, accompaniment, help, food, or whatever we discover is our mission or reason for being, we must heal our roots and know each one of them so that, even if they remain underground where they belong, giving support and all the aforementioned; we can recognize each of its parts that touch and cross the surface. To intuitively know where they are, what is around them and how it is affecting our growth. We must accept the forms of life that come to look for food near them, adapt to a new reality constantly * it is not about enduring or consenting **** Our root is about ACCEPTING things as they are so we can know ourselves and accept ourselves in our most basic expression, our physical and energetic "biology". Emotions, actions, personalities and so on, come later and it is not what we are talking about right now. This is about the roots and what they are, without adding any other theme or emotion. When we manage to “separate” with the “right” intentions, we can appreciate each thing for what it is, what it represents, what it does, and then unite them to identify how they interact and what they are, become or create together.
The roots are our starting point, our first connection and interaction with this world as humans; just like for the trees. On my spiritual path I have learned that the knowledge is there, everywhere. We talk about roots when our final goal is the Higher Self, just like we would talk about cement and building blocks if we were talking about building a house because we want a ceiling that’s open to the sky, the elements used may vary depending on what kind of structure you want. There are many ways to awaken our “Higher Self”, and I honestly believe that the healthiest way to go through this whole journey is to start at the beginning. We all have different reasons to venture into these unknown paths, what we find in our journey will always reflect our state of “unconscious consciousness” since we only perceive reality as we condition ourselves to experience it. Going to the beginning, before our conditioning began, only makes sense.
